Southeast Scale Hydroplane Championship Update
Our
club has decided to reschedule the December 6, 2009 one day
race. The new date will be March 7, 2010. We had a low entry
count probably because our date was too close to Thanksgiving.
Moving the race to the month of March has already had a good
response and we hope to have a big turnout.
We are also updating the website
frequently.

Here’s an update on some scale drivers and their
boats:
Ray Kindred, Captain Perry Walter, and Bill Hoch
are all fixing their boats from a crash earlier this year. Those
boats will be ready for the 2010 Race Season.
Steve Adams and James Traut are building new 1/8 scale
hydroplanes and will have them ready for the 2010 Race Season.
Tony Atwell has two 1/8 scale boats (T-Plus and Pete’s Wicked
Ale). He said he’ll be able to make the new race date in March
2010.
Dave
Berry has two brand new scale boats for 2010.
Other scale drivers will be at this race, including Jack St.
Clair, Mike Haynes, Randy Hagood, Mitch Schaefer, Joe Wiebelhaus,
Ron Ratoff, Dan McCormick and myself.
The
club also decided to add the Jersey Speed Skip class to the
event. We dropped the sport 21 class because not enough people
are racing this class.
Richard Lind handmade the wood bases for the trophies. The
trophies are really nice and I’ll have photos on the club
website soon.
There will be a break in the race so everyone can have lunch.
Steve Adams will be manning the grill and there will be free
food (you will have to bring your own drinks). Also, as a
reminder, this is a county park and alcohol is prohibited.
